Reminder: Memorial Drive safety meeting TONIGHT

This is a reminder that the first of two meetings for the resurfacing and restriping of Memorial Drive is TONIGHT starting at 6 p.m. at Lang Carson Community Center in Reynoldstown. There will be a short presentation at 6 p.m., followed by an open house with GDOT staff and community volunteers. You don’t need to stay the whole time.

If you are available, we would greatly appreciate your attendance and filling out a comment card. We need to have a strong community voice in support of this project to ensure it is fully executed by GDOT. If you have concerns, we need to hear those, too. Tonight’s meeting and the Nov. 8 meeting have the same information. It is not necessary to attend both.

Final Options for the Edgewood Identity Campaign

At long last, the design team has arrived at 3 options for Edgewood neighbors to consider.

Option 1: A “facelift” for the existing logo. See this pdf presentation: “Littlemen”

Option 3: Use the existing, updated logo for common brand materials like the letterhead and business card. Use the owl imagery for large format items like the banner, murals, signs, etc. Please check out both options above!

Invest Atlanta Seeking Public Comment

The board of Invest Atlanta will be discussing and voting on two projects in NPU-O this month.

First is a vote to approve a bond resolution that would offer a $4.5m tax abatement over ten years to support Atomic Entertainment’s plan to renovate the Pullman yard on Rogers St.
Second is a vote to approve a tax exempt bond to assist in the financing required to acquire and renovate the 222-unit Edgewood Court Apartment complex on Hardee Street.

I assume that the NPU and  neighborhood residents are quite familiar with both these proposals, as there has been opportunity to interact in the past. However, I wanted to offer anyone who is interested in Invest Atlanta’s role in either of these items a chance to come and observe the discussion and offer public comment.

This item is on the agenda of the Finance Committee this Monday, October 16 at 3 pm, and again on the full board agenda Thursday, October 19 at 8:30 am.

Both meetings are in the Invest Atlanta Conference Room on the 29th floor of the Georgia Pacific Building, 133 Peachtree St.
