School Year Updates

Just a few updates on what’s happening as the school year approaches:

-APS open house at Whitefoord Early Learning Academy and Toomer Elementary (and all APS schools) on Friday July 28th from 11am to 1pm

-Toomer Family Social at Toomer Elementary on Sunday July 30th from 3-5pm

-Student registration at Toomer on Thursday July 20th from 9:30-12:30 and 1:30 to 2:30pm or call 404-802-3450 if you are unsure if you registered.

-Encourage parents to “friend” the Friends of Fred Armon Toomer Elementary page on Facebook. Principal Adamo has been posting community event info and back to school supply lists for the students.

-Contact Sydney Ahearn (the APS early learning director) if you have questions about the new Whitefoord Early Learning Academy. Her number is 914-309-5929.

-Toomer PTA has arranged 5$ basic short-hair cuts at Langford’s Barber Shop in downtown Kirkwood on Hosea for our under 12 back to school kids. The special will be running from Mon-Weds of next week and they are open from 8am to 7pm. Just say you are there with the APS back to school special! There is also a shop offering 10$ braids today (weds) and next week on Mon and Weds. It is called Hady and Yatou and it is at 714 Moreland Ave SE, Ste C, 30316. Their number is 404-634-0302.

-APS is hosting a back-to-school bash at the Georgia World Congress Center on 7/29 from 9-1pm. It will have tons of exhibitors, vaccines, health screenings, after school resources, and free back to school gear. You must bring a report card to gain access to the event. I’m trying to find out what new APS students or pre-K kids would need to prove they are enrolled. Parking is free. APS also has a website with more transportation and event info.

That’s all I know that is new! I’ll keep you all posted if I have any other info.
